TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Keelung City Government's Department of Land Administration Director Wang Ying-che (王英哲) suffered a fatal fall on Wednesday (Sept. 11).
The Keelung City Fire Department received a report Thursday morning about an injured man lying face down in the bushes near Qidu railway station, per CNA. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and found that the man had been dead for some time, so he was not transported to the hospital.
Investigators believe Wang likely died from a fall from a building on Wednesday evening.
The city government said that Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang (謝國樑) had planned to attend a principals' meeting Thursday morning, but upon receiving the news, canceled the event and went to offer condolences to the family.
