TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — CPC Corporation launched its first swappable battery stations in Tainan on Wednesday (Sept. 11).
According to a press release, the company will roll out 22 stations across Tainan. The stations will use the company’s in-house soft carbon batteries which are said to have a life of more than 3,500 cycles, per CNA.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, CPC Chair Lee Shun-chin (李順欽) said the company’s batteries boast fast charging and a long lifespan, making them a driving force in the electric vehicle field.
Lee explained the battery swap system can charge a battery to 80% within 20 minutes, per Liberty Times. The battery is safe and there is no need to worry about it burning or catching fire, he added.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) thanked CPC for choosing Tainan as the first city for its battery swap service. The mayor urged citizens to use electric scooters to support the government’s net-zero policy.
CPC said it is venturing into the energy sector, aiming to become a leading brand in domestic transportation.
