TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Three major telecom providers will send an emergency message to users in a nationwide test on Wednesday (Sept. 11).
Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, and Taiwan Mobile will send an alert to customers' phones in Chinese and English to test the government's disaster prevention warning system on Wednesday at 4 p.m., per CNA. The telecom operators said customers do not need to worry when they receive the message, and that service will not be disrupted.
According to Taiwan’s National Communications Commission, if an alert is sent with the code “4393” attached to the English message or “4380” to the Chinese message, it is a test.
Information on the commission’s website notes that if customers of the three networks do not receive the test message, their phones may be configured to reject alerts, or their phones may be too old to receive them.
