TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan’s tourism bureau is planning a cable car project in the Hu Tou Pei Scenic Area that will cover two kilometers and stop in four locations, the government said on Tuesday (Sept. 10).
The tourism bureau said it is seeking private investment to build the cable car system, and it will combine this with public buildings, hotels, and shops throughout the scenic area, per CNA. The bureau said the project is expected to solve parking and access issues.
The plan for four cable car stations is an initial proposal, and the scope of the project is flexible, the tourism bureau said. It said that business operators can consider their own needs when making proposals.
According to the tourism bureau, the Hu Tou Pei Scenic Area features a diverse ecological environment and is a good place to go camping or barbecue. The large lake that is a feature of the area was built in the 1840s as a reservoir for nearby farms, and it is named after its tiger-head-like shape.
