TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A fan faces criminal charges for unruly behavior at a Bruno Mars concert in Kaohsiung on Sunday (Sept. 8).
“Bruno Mars Live in Kaohsiung” at Kaohsiung National Stadium on Sept. 7-8 drew 157,000 fans, per TaiSounds. However, one 29-year-old man surnamed Tsai (蔡) was reportedly arrested after becoming intoxicated and assaulting a staff member.
According to a social media post, during the second half of the Sunday concert when Mars was being introduced, a fan in the right front section of the pit sector appeared to lose control. The fan allegedly threw a phone and water bottle, rolled on the ground, removed his pants, and hit staff members.
Police said Tsai caused a disturbance in the pit sector around 9 p.m. Several staff members, including a 35-year-old man surnamed Kung (龔), tried to intervene, but Tsai struck Kung, injuring his head.
Other staff members worked together to subdue Tsai. After receiving a report from concert staff, officers from Zuoying Police Station arrived on the scene and arrested Tsai.
Tsai has been charged with causing bodily harm (重傷害罪). In addition, Kung, who sustained a scalp laceration, filed a public insult (公然侮辱罪) complaint against Tsai.
