TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – International Watch Company (IWC) Schaffhausen, a renowned Swiss luxury brand with a 150-year history, opened its first boutique in Taiwan at Taipei 101 on Thursday (Sept. 5).
The boutique showcases the latest Portuguese Perpetual Calendar watch collection. There are four models in various colors and materials, each powered by IWC's in-house 52616 caliber with a seven-day power reserve.
On the opening day, award-winning actor Chang Hsiao-chuan (張孝全) attended the event, wearing IWC's latest Portuguese Perpetual Calendar 44 watch in obsidian.
Other IWC classics like the Pilot's Watch, Portofino, and the complete Portuguese collection are also available at the boutique.
The boutique's interior is designed with IWC's signature black and white palette and metallic accents, creating a modern and inviting atmosphere. A custom-designed coffee machine adds to the relaxed ambiance.
The Portuguese Eternal Calendar watch, showcased in the VIP room, is a Guinness World Records holder for the most accurate moon phase display. IWC engineers developed a specialized computational simulation program to achieve this precision, calculating nearly 23 trillion gear combinations.
Theoretically, the moon phase display of this watch will deviate from the actual lunar orbit by only one day after 45 million years, truly a pinnacle of watchmaking.
The Taipei flagship store also features an "Engineering Wall" showcasing disassembled movements, chronograph components, and the materials used in IWC watches. This allows customers to understand the craftsmanship and artistry behind each timepiece.
