TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) opened SEMICON Taiwan at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and 2 on Wednesday (Sept. 4).
The three-day conference will feature over 1,100 exhibitors and 3,700 booths. Guest speakers include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer Y. J. Mii (米玉傑) and MediaTek Vice Chair and CEO Rick Tsai (蔡力行).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cho said Taiwan is an important player in the global supply chain, per CNA. The government is committed to creating the best environment for investment, manufacturing, and production, and Taiwan will fulfill its responsibilities to the world, he said.
Cho added that this year’s theme, “Breaking Limits: Powering the AI Era,” reflects how the AI era will transform human life. Taiwan has a solid foundation in the AI wave and should further apply these technologies in government and the private sector, he explained.
Cho said the central government’s budget for next year includes sufficient funds for developing AI, per Liberty Times. Looking forward, he said the government hopes for more international cooperation, talent training, and AI research.
