TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Three workers died and one was seriously injured after the aerial work platform they were standing on suddenly fell to the ground in Yunlin County on Wednesday (Sept. 4).
At 1:47 p.m. at a feed factory in Yunlin County's Huwei Township, four workers were on an aerial platform lifted by a crane, per TVBS. They were elevated about 6 meters when the platform fell to the ground.
The fire department dispatched one water tank truck and four ambulances. Three of the workers had died, while the fourth was seriously injured and unconscious.
The surviving worker was identified as a 55-year-old man surnamed Liu (劉), who was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Huwei Township for emergency treatment. Two employees, a 61-year-old man surnamed Chen (陳) and a 57-year-old man surnamed Ko (柯) were sent to Yunlin Christian Hospital. A 50-year-old man surnamed Kuo (郭) was transported to National Cheng Kung University Hospital Douliu Branch.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the incident occurred when the crane's arm snapped.
