TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s public broadcaster is offering English-language content to Indian TV viewers as part of an ongoing bid to reach new markets.
News and current affairs channel TaiwanPlus said in a press release on Monday (Aug. 26) that it had recently begun offering its content to Indian consumers via JioTV. It said launching on the streaming service was part of efforts to increase its international presence.
TaiwanPlus made the announcement as it marked three years in operation. It said that it has amassed over 198 million views since it launched, and that more than 90% of its viewership is now outside Taiwan.
It said that in its three years on air, TaiwanPlus has also partnered with international media organizations, including the European public service channel ARTE, Discovery Channel, and Vice.
TaiwanPlus is operated by the Public Television Service (PTS). The service is government funded but operates independently by law.
