TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is planning an international drone expo for Taipei in September 2025, reports said Wednesday (Aug. 28).
The event will help Taiwan businesses increase their visibility and seize opportunities in the “non-red” supply chain, meaning reliance on suppliers and clients outside China, per Radio Taiwan International. Private enterprises in the sector called on the government to help out and achieve advances in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology.
TAITRA Chair James Huang (黃志芳) said October’s AIoT Taiwan expo would feature a special area featuring 25 domestic drone manufacturers. Buyers from 258 companies in 32 countries including the United States, Japan, Turkey, and Israel are expected at the event, he said.
The Oct. 23 fair would form the basis of the Drone Expo planned for September next year. TAITRA expects to recruit 70 companies to exhibit products at 200 booths during the 2025 Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition.
Businesses in the sector have asked for more government resources to help develop expensive communications, optical and encryption technology for drones.
