TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A delegation of Taiwan Youth Ambassadors performed in front of President Bernardo Arevalo of Guatemala on Tuesday (Aug. 27).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) sent a record number of 50 students from Taiwan universities to visit diplomatic allies Belize and Guatemala, per CNA. Their performance for Arevalo featured martial arts, dance, traditional music, and a tea ceremony.

In addition to the president and other government officials, more than 150 members of the Taiwanese community in Guatemala attended the event. The annual student visits to the Central American country started in 2009, the Taiwan embassy said.
The Young Ambassadors also toured Guatemala’s foreign ministry and discussed climate change and environmental protection with students at the Universidad del Valle.

Earlier, Arevalo met with 39 Guatemalans studying at universities in Taiwan. He encouraged them to pursue their dreams and expressed the hope they would contribute to the future development of Guatemala.
