TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Apple’s Sept. 10 product keynote could benefit Taiwanese manufacturers, industry sources said.
With the Cupertino giant set to unveil its new iPhone 16 series, the reveal is expected to drive performance for Taiwanese supply chain companies including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Foxconn, and Pegatron, per CNA.
US investment firms said Foxconn remains the major assembly partner for high-end iPhones, accounting for 60-65% of production. Pegatron is also a key assembler for iPhone Plus and iPhone Pro models, they added.
Industry analysts said the iPhone 16 may replace its mechanical volume and power buttons with capacitive touch buttons. This could boost the performance of semiconductor packaging and testing companies, such as Advanced Semiconductor Engineering and Amkor Technology.
Pegatron Chair Tung Tzu-hsien (童子賢) at the 40th Taiwan Venture Capital Summit on Tuesday (Aug. 27) said that when new products are released, they will usually trigger a wave of consumption, per CNA. Especially in the fall and winter months of August and September, the revenue proportion is high, the chair said.
