TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Kaohsiung City is tinkering with new formulas to encourage visits by concertgoers, reports said Friday (Aug. 23).
Over the past year, the southern city hosted concerts by British rock band Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, K-pop acts Blackpink and Super Junior, and Taiwan favorites Mayday.
The next few months have Bruno Mars and Take That lined up, while organizers announced this week that singer-songwriter Charlie Puth will be performing at the Kaohsiung Arena in December.
The city’s Tourism Bureau said it had invited 86 hotels to offer extra benefits to music lovers, per CNA. By showing their concert tickets, the tourists could also enjoy discounts for food, lodging, travel, and shopping.
The hotels could also cut rates for one night’s stay before or after the concert, with the size of the discounts varying from hotel to hotel, the bureau said. Locations in other parts of Kaohsiung, including the Light Is Cafe at Shoushan Zoo and Baolai Huashang Hot Springs Park, are also said to be participating in the program.
