TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Fortune Electric subsidiary Evalue said it will build 1,200 electric charging stations in New Taipei at a launch ceremony on Friday (Aug. 23).
Working in cooperation with New Taipei City Government, Evalue CEO Hsu I-cheng (許逸晟) said the stations will be spread across 229 locations and include units with outputs such as 7 kW, 11 kW, and 180 kW, per CNA.
Hsu said the company in 2020 launched Taiwan’s first combined solar, storage, and charging station. He claimed it was the first operator to start charging fees and launch a charging station app, per UDN.
New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) said electric vehicles (EVs) are a growing trend and expanding charging stations is essential. To ensure safety, New Taipei will equip all public parking lots with fire blankets specifically for electric vehicles and a 24/7 one-touch emergency notification system, he added.
Hou explained if the charging station detects an issue, the system will activate a power cut-off protection mechanism. Additionally, parking attendants can use the notification system to alert the fire department.
Looking forward, Hsu said Evalue will continue to expand its charging stations in key areas, including parks, hotels and scenic spots. The company expects to have 3,700 across Taiwan by the end of 2026, he said.
