TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A dazzling fireworks display capped off the Taiwan Tamsui Summer Festival on Sunday (Aug. 11) night, drawing an estimated 60,000 spectators to Fisherman’s Wharf.
The event began with a drone light show depicting a love story before the fireworks launched at 8 p.m. Themed “Tamsui Romance,” the display featured three parts celebrating Chinese Valentine’s Day, per New Taipei City Government.
Crowds gathered at Fisherman’s Wharf early Sunday afternoon to catch the show. A special Valentine’s Day-themed water fountain show complemented the fireworks display.
The show featured captivating laser lights and water choreography. Daily performances will take place at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. through Aug. 16.
Another fireworks show is set for Sept. 8. New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Liu Her-ran (劉和然) said the festival has become an annual draw, boosting the night economy.
