TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Indonesia’s New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Directorate (EBTKE) Director General Eniya Listiani Dewi welcomed Taiwanese companies to invest in Indonesia’s green development on Thursday (Aug. 8).
At a sustainability forum organized by the Indonesian media outlet Katadata, Eniya said several Taiwanese companies recently expressed their interest in contributing to and investing in Indonesia’s energy transition. Senior officials from Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company PLN also welcomed investment from Taiwan, per CNA.
Eniya said Taiwanese companies mentioned investment opportunities in areas like wind power and green electricity generation for data centers. She said Taiwanese companies could help Indonesian factories produce their own wind turbines.
“Our solar panel manufacturing plants are continuously increasing, especially in Central Java, but there is still significant potential for wind power development,” she added.
PLN Executive Vice President Warsono said the company is preparing the latest version of its electricity supply plan. According to the plan, PLN aims to increase the proportion of electricity generated from renewable energy sources from 51% to 75%, he said.
Warsono added that Taiwanese companies can assist in Indonesia’s energy transition process in areas like smart green energy and energy storage systems. “There are many investment opportunities in Indonesia, not only for Taiwan but also for other countries,” he said.
