TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwanese mask maker CSD (中衛) has partnered with global condom brand Durex in a surprising new product launch.
The companies unveiled a limited-edition 3D mask packaged in a giant condom-shaped box, nine times the size of a regular condom package. It contains a standard 3D design mask and comes in a variety of colors.
CSD announced the collaboration on Facebook, and the unconventional packaging quickly caught the attention of netizens.
CSD Marketing Manager Julie Chou (周令怡) told Taiwan News the collaboration was born from a desire to highlight the lightweight and thin qualities of its 3D masks. "During the pandemic, we wanted to find a product that, like our masks, emphasized lightness and thinness. Durex's advertising has always been innovative and fun hence the idea for this collaboration had been in the back of our minds for a while."
Chou explained that with their 3D mask line now well-established and popular with consumers, the timing was right to move forward with the Durex partnership. "Plus, both products are worn on the body, are lightweight, and offer protection," said Chou.
The campaign is seen as a bold move by both brands to stand out in crowded markets. Chou expected the collaboration to help increase awareness of its 3D mask line and reinforce the product’s key selling points.
The limited-edition masks are not for sale but are being offered as a promotional gift with purchases made through Aug.10. The giveaway includes a single mask or a gift box containing a mask, a pack of Durex condoms, and additional CSD masks.
