TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An “open house” event will occur next week at Chiayi Air Force Base, allowing the public to see Taiwan’s fighter jets and other military hardware up close.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., CNA reported. Since the base is home to Taiwan’s F-16Vs, five will conduct a fly-over to kick off the special day. The Air Force’s Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team and IDFs will also perform aerial maneuvers.
Rehearsals were carried out on Tuesday (Aug. 6) but certain maneuvers were canceled due to unsafe weather conditions.
The public can see various aircraft including Black Hawk helicopters, Mirage 2000s, and C-130 transport planes. The Patriot missile defense system and M60 tank will also be on display.
The Air Force will host the next open house in 2027.
