TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — In June and July, the police launched four raids, resulting in 447 suspects facing possible charges for the trafficking of child pornography.
A task force mobilized 64 cybercrime units and 350 police officers to investigate "Creative Private House (創意私房)," a platform for selling sex videos in Taiwan, and Telegram's "SCP" and "OAT" groups. They launched two waves of simultaneous raids in 17 counties and cities.
Although the forums were set up on overseas websites, buyers and sellers were all Taiwanese, per CNA. Creative Private House was set up by a man overseas with the nickname "Lao Ma,” and it was managed by a 30-year-old man surnamed Zhang (張) and a 34-year-old man surnamed Zhu (朱). It registered over 3,000 transactions and NT$30 million (US$915,790) in payments over two years.
People paid to join the Creative Private Room, where members bought and sold sexual images and videos of underage girls. Most of the content was advertised as "Taiwan original" and members made purchases using “tokens.”
Zhang and three others were taken into custody, where they could face charges including breaking the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act, Money Laundering Control Act, and Organized Crime Prevention Act. Another 16 suspects were released on bail, and 427 others are being investigated.
