TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s National Palace Museum (NPM) announced Monday (July 29) it will extend hours at both its northern and southern branches until 6 p.m. daily in August, except Mondays.
The museum invites visitors to escape the summer heat and enjoy its diverse collections. It offers exhibitions for both children and adults, per NPM.
Northern Branch
The northern branch features the “Spotlight on National Treasures” exhibition, showcasing Song Dynasty painter Ma Lin’s iconic “Candlelit Nighttime Excursion.” A special exhibit, “The Emperors’ Moving Gardens—Flowers Paintings from the Qing Dynasty Court,” explores Qing Dynasty imperial gardens.
The museum also offers “The Splendor of Dream of the Red Chamber,” exploring classic Chinese literature through objects. For families, the “NPM Kid’s Festival” features interactive games.
Southern Branch
The southern branch will host Taiwan’s longest water show with performances every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The museum also offers a summer event with activities including puzzle-solving and art workshops.
Two new exhibitions, “Treasures in the Palace of Heavenly Purity – Rediscovering Jades from the Inner Court of the Forbidden City” and “Refined Radiance: Treasures of Qing Dynasty Jewelry,” showcase over 700 exquisite pieces.
