TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Badminton men’s doubles partners Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) and Lee Yang (李洋) defeated world-ranked Japanese pair Hoki Takuro and Kobayashi Yugo at the Paris Olympics on Saturday (July 27).
The pair maintained the lead for most of the first game, scoring three consecutive points at the end and winning 21-16, per CNA. They secured the second game at 21-10.
Wang said that in previous matches, they tried to compete with power and speed, but the Japanese team had accurately read their shots. Today, they aimed to sustain their offensive pressure, he said.
Lee said he was tense during the first game due to the mishap. The only moment he felt relaxed was when he saw Wang dancing after their victory, he said.
Wang and Lee are set to retire after the Paris Olympics, reported UDN.
