TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A surge of anime and manga fans flocked to the 23rd Comic Exhibition held at Taipei World Trade Center on Friday (July 26).
Following Typhoon Gaemi canceling Thursday’s planned opening, an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 people lined up outside of the convention space on Friday at 10 a.m., per CNA.
Taiwan’s Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association (CACPA) said they urged attendees through social media to stagger their entry times and advised fans to prioritize their safety.
CACPA Secretary-General Roger Kao (高世椿) said this year there are about 150 exhibitions and more than 1,200 booths, per RTI. The event will be held alongside Taiwan Gamers Convention International and Taipei Movie and Toys Convention, he added.
According to CACPA, last year’s event attracted 640,000 attendees and they expect this year’s numbers to be greater. The event will be held from July 26-29.
