TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Heavy rain is expected in central and southern Taiwan until Friday morning (July 26) as the remnants of Tropical Storm Gaemi continue to affect the country, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Thursday (July 25).
The CWA warned of extremely heavy rainfall in mountainous areas through Friday morning. The plains south of Miaoli could also see heavy to extremely heavy rain, per CNA.
Gaemi is weakening and shrinking, but its circulation and moisture from the southwest monsoon were still impacting the country, the CWA said. As of 11 p.m. Thursday, the storm was centered about 130 km southwest of Matsu and moving north-northwest at 16 kph.
