TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As Typhoon Gaemi strengthened into a medium-strength typhoon on Monday (July 22) afternoon and gradually approaches eastern Taiwan, traffic and events have been altered as below, per CNA.

Water Gates Closed
- Taipei
The Taipei Hydraulic Engineering Office announced an "exit only, no entry" policy for riverbank evacuation gates starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday (July 23). Vehicles left on riverbanks after 8 p.m. will be towed, with fines ranging from NT$1,800 (US$55) to NT$4,800 depending on vehicle size.
- New Taipei
A "no entry" rule for high-ground parking lots will start at 4 p.m. Tuesday (July 23) and the remaining vehicles will be towed at 8 p.m. All roads passing over riverbanks will be closed to incoming traffic at 9 p.m., with complete closure of all transverse gates and overpass roads by 10 p.m.

- Taitung-Green Island: suspended on July 23 and 24; sailing information for July 25 will be announced based on sea conditions
- Taitung-Lanyu: suspended from July 23 to 25; sailing information for July 26 will be announced based on sea conditions
