TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) of Taiwan and Jan Zielinski of Poland teamed up to win their second Grand Slam mixed doubles title of the year at Wimbledon on Sunday (July 14).
The duo defeated the Mexican pair Santiago Gonzalez and Giuliana Olmos 6-4, 6-2, per CNA.
Hsieh and Zielinski, who first paired up at the Australian Open in January and won the title, were dominant throughout the match. They broke serve several times and Hsieh's lobs kept the Mexicans off balance.
The victory is the ninth Grand Slam title of Hsieh's career and her second in mixed doubles.
With the Paris Olympics set to begin on July 27, Hsieh’s victory at Wimbledon bodes well. Meanwhile, Tsao Chia-yi (曹家宜), Hsieh's partner at the Olympics, won the doubles title at the WTA Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden.
