TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Afternoon thunderstorms are set to ease in Taiwan’s north but temperatures will remain high across the country on Sunday and for five days following, according to Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan (張承傳).
Chang told CNA on Saturday (July 13) that a high-pressure system will continue to move north on Sunday, and that afternoon thunderstorms in the greater Taipei area will gradually decrease. However, he said temperatures will remain high.
The CWA has issued orange heat advisories for Sunday for New Taipei, Taipei, and Pingtung County, meaning the temperature is forecast to reach 38 C. Warnings have also been issued for Taichung, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, meaning the temperature has reached 36 C for three days in a row.
Yellow heat warnings have been issued for Taoyuan, Chiayi County, and Yilan County on Sunday, meaning temperatures are expected to reach 36 C.
