TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Investigators Thursday (July 11) said they found a third vehicle driven by the suspected shooter of Lin Shih-chieh (林士傑) and a mask with his DNA.
Lin, chair of the Tainan Fisherman Association, was killed in front of his home on Monday morning (July 8). On Thursday, Jhang Wun-yuan (張文源), commander of the Tainan City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Corps, said the gunman used at least three vehicles to escape, with the third being a scooter, reported SET News.
Jhang said finding the scooter did not lead to any significant breakthroughs. However, he said more progress was made with the second vehicle, which contained a mask and fingerprints.

Police extracted DNA from the mask and fingerprints were found throughout the car. An analysis is ongoing, but the preliminary results point to a male suspect with a criminal record.
Jhang said the individual is currently the prime suspect, although other possibilities are still being considered. Police said the gunman stayed at a hotel before the shooting.
After killing Lin, the suspect drove a getaway car to a parking lot on Lane 53, Xinjian Road in South District, where he tossed the two guns used in the shooting inside and set it on fire.

Investigators found a second suspected getaway car in Kaohsiung's Dashu District. They also found an empty bottle of hydrochloric acid, and the car's interior, including the steering wheel, seats, and door handles, appeared doused with acid in an attempt to destroy evidence, per CNA.
They believe he then fled to Pingtung County's Donggang Township on a scooter.
Jhang said the investigation into whether the gunman has fled the country is ongoing, with surveillance footage provided to seaports and airports in central and northern Taiwan to try and prevent the suspect from fleeing.
