TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A man wielding a saw rode a scooter through the entrance of a Kaohsiung military base before being apprehended on Monday (July 8), police said.
The Kaohsiung City Police Department said in a press release that a 41-year-old man surnamed Wang (王) forcibly entered a military training base at around 4 p.m., per CNA. A captain surnamed Lin (林) apprehended Wang and kept him in custody with the assistance of other military officers until police arrived.
Police said Wang was holding a saw when he was apprehended and provided a photo showing a folding saw with a 250-mm-long blade. No motive was provided for Wang’s actions.
Wang has been charged with trespassing, intimidation, and the obstruction of official duties, police said.
