TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s 7,000th 7-Eleven convenience store will open its doors to the public in Tainan City next week, President Chain Store Corporation said Friday (July 5).
The outlet will also include a fresh fruit and vegetable section, with a Cosmed pharmacy and a Starbucks housed in the same complex, per CNA. The three brands are all managed by Uni-President Enterprises Corporation in Taiwan.
The “Capital” branch (首府門市) will launch on July 10 at a location of about 1,000 square meters, which includes a Cosmed and Starbucks. Last year, 7-Eleven opened 228 convenience stores, taking its total to 6,859 for the country, with another 126 added between January and May of this year.
There is no ceiling in sight for the number of 7-Elevens, said Uni-President Chair Alex Lo (羅智先). The company has set 7,111 outlets as its target for November, he added.
Of the three main competitors, Family Mart came in second with 4,252 branches at the end of May, followed by Hi-Life with 1,617 stores, and OK-Mart with 813 outlets.
