TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) said that it will cooperate with AMD on cooling technology at its 51st anniversary event on Friday (July 5).
ITRI General Director of Electronic and Optoelectronic System Research Shih Chieh-chang (張世杰) said in a press release that the institute has developed a kilowatt-level AI server cooling solution that can be applied to both air and immersion cooling systems. The memorandum of cooperation with AMD is being drafted, the director general said, per CNA.
The institute has already collaborated with 90% of cooling industry players and started cooperation with Intel last year, Shih added.
ITRI said the kilowatt-level AI server cooling solution features highly efficient heat dissipation components and advanced cooling technology.
“It integrates the vapor chamber lid with the chip module, using a vacuum steam chamber for evaporating and condensing the water within the chip,” ITRI explained. “This achieves rapid heat transfer and the removal of large amounts of heat, successfully enhancing the cooling capacity of AI chips to over a kilowatt, making it three times more energy-efficient than the global average.”
