TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Compal Electronics Inc., one of the world’s biggest contract makers of laptops, is investing more than NT$500 million (US$15.4 million) in Poland to build a factory for automotive electronics, reports said Thursday (July 4).
The plant in the city of Czeladz near Katowice in southern Poland will be completed during the second quarter of 2025, per CNA. Production should start by the end of next year, with the factory beginning to contribute to the company’s revenue in 2026.
Compal was spending NT$77.7 million purchasing the land, with a further NT$431 million to build the plant. The company said the project was being handled by its Polish subsidiary, CGS Technology (Poland).
Compal already has an after-sales service center in the Central European country. The new plant is aimed at supplying the local automotive sector, and amounted to the group’s first manufacturing project in Europe, Compal said.
