TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The wing of an Eva Airlines Boeing 777 was damaged at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Wednesday (July 3) after hitting a light pole while taxiing.
The incident occurred at 4:04 p.m. on Wednesday as the aircraft was preparing to depart the airport, reported VN Express. Flight BRE396 was originally scheduled to depart Ho Chi Minh at 3:55 p.m. to return to Taipei.
The plane’s left wing had a minor dent from the impact. Airport authorities noted that the weather and visibility were clear when the plane hit the light pole.
The plane was grounded in Vietnam to undergo repairs. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Eva Airlines arranged for a second aircraft to arrive in Ho Chi Minh on Wednesday evening to take the passengers to Taipei on Thursday (July 4) morning. The airline also paid for accommodation and dinner for the affected passengers and apologized for the incident, reported Now News.
