TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A delegation led by Guatemala Ambassador to Taiwan Oscar Adolfo Padilla Lam visited I-Mei’s food factory in Longtan, Taoyuan on Wednesday (July 3).
Lam was joined by Paraguay Embassy First Secretary Jose Silguero, Chilean Trade Office Director Fernando Schmidt, and Mexican Trade Services Documentation and Cultural Office Chief Officer Francisco Javier Martinez.
The delegation inspected I-Mei’s oil extraction equipment and freeze-dry systems. They also learned about the company’s drone tech, which allows staff to examine and keep track of inventory.
After the tour, the delegation met with I-Mei CEO Luis Ko (高志明) who explained I-Mei’s commitment to consumers. I-Mei does not use food additives and takes food safety seriously, the CEO said.
Schmidt praised I-Mei’s efforts in food safety, mentioning that Chilean consumers have paid more attention to this aspect. He also praised the company’s use of technology such as drones and commitment to zero waste.
Ko thanked the delegation for their time and said the company was open to further talks about food imports, such as Guatemalan coffee and Mexican avocados.
