TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan will be the guest of honor at the 2025 Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF), the organizers said Wednesday (June 26).
Next year’s event willl mark the fourth time that Taiwan has featured as the theme country at a book fair, following Bangkok in 2007 and 2018, and the French city of Angouleme in 2012, according to the Taipei Book Fair Foundation (TBFF). The group said it hopes that next year’s SIBF would turn a new page in cultural exchanges between Taiwan and South Korea, per CNA.
The TBFF said it started participating in the SIBF in 2008, using the format of a “Taiwan Pavilion” to attract the attention of South Korean readers and publishers. The pavilion at this year’s June 26-30 fair presented 48 publishing houses and 336 books, including award winning publications.
The event also serves as a platform for contacts between the publishing sectors of both countries, with Taiwanese companies looking to have their works translated into Korean for the local market.
