TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is rumored to build an advanced packaging plant in Pingtung, according to media reports.
Pingtung County Government said it has always strived to attract the semiconductor industry to establish a plant in Pingtung while balancing the interests of residents, per CNA. However, officials said they have not yet received any further information from TSMC.
Pingtung has an abundance of rivers and groundwater, ensuring ample water supply, county officials said. In recent years, the county has made significant progress in promoting green electricity infrastructure, making it the first in Taiwan to achieve the RE100 renewable goal for residential use, per UDN.
Regarding land availability, officials said they have identified multiple sites suitable within the county. Additionally, high-tech talent can be trained in collaboration with local universities.
In terms of living amenities, county officials added Pingtung offers well-rounded facilities ranging from healthcare to recreational sites.
“The time is right to invest in Pingtung,” officials said. “Pingtung is ready!”
