TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A woman died after walking onto the tracks in front of a Taiwan Railway Corporation train in Tainan on Monday (June 24).
A southbound TRC train struck a woman who was on the tracks in Tainan's Yongkang District, per CNA.
Tainan City Fire Department received a report at 12:36 p.m. saying that TRC Tze-chiang express No. 113 had struck a woman on the tracks near the underpass at No. 1, Lane 279, Zhongzheng Road.
Firefighters found the woman in a nearby grassy area and confirmed that she was dead. The case was handed over to the railway police for further investigation.
Some trains were delayed as first responders dealt with the accident. Tainan City Police Department dispatched personnel to assist with traffic controls around Siwei Street and Kangqiao Avenue level crossings in Yongkang District to minimize the impact on traffic.
