TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) on Friday (June 21) headed to the United States for the first time since taking office last month to promote Taiwan businesses at the SelectUSA Investment Summit.
The June 23-26 event in National Harbor, Maryland, brings together businesses, officials, and experts to facilitate foreign direct investment in the U.S. The summit is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Before leaving Friday, Kuo said he would like to meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) and AMD Chair Lisa Su (蘇姿丰), per Radio Taiwan International (RTI). Huang and Su both visited Taiwan earlier this month to visit Computex Taipei.
The Taiwan delegation has representatives from the semiconductor, biotechnology, information and communications technology, financial services, and aerospace industries, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said. In addition, nine startups from Taiwan had reached the final round of the SelectUSA Tech Program, which could allow them to expand into the U.S. market within three years.
