TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Dwight Howard is returning to Taiwan and will introduce some of his ex-L.A. Lakers teammates to play for the Taiwan Mustangs.
Multiple reports suggest the former NBA star has enlisted DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook to team up for The Asian Tournament (TAT). The new league tips off in July.
Howard confirmed the news at a press conference Wednesday (June 19). He was speaking via video link from the United States.
The former Taoyuan Leopards player also confirmed he is a part owner of the new league and Taiwan Mustangs. He added that he wanted more ex-NBA players to join him in Taiwan.
Howard and Cook played together on the 2019-2020 Lakers championship squad Cousins captained the Taiwan Beer Leopards when it won the 2023-2024 T1 League championship.
TAT Taipei will hold games from July 26-Aug. 1. Tickets go on sale from Saturday (June 22).
