TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Edward Sun (孫安佐) was released on NT$300,000 (US$9,000) bail on Wednesday (June 19) after he and his agent were questioned for potentially violating gun laws.
Sun's parents are celebrity couple Di Ying (狄鶯) and Sun Peng (孫鵬). He had his residence searched Wednesday by police and was brought back to the police station after his agent appeared in public carrying a homemade blowtorch.
After questioning by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, Sun was ordered to post bail, restricted to his residence, and placed under the supervision of his father, reported Liberty Times.
His agent, Chu I-ming (朱翊銘), was arrested for obstructing official duties after getting into a physical altercation with officers. Dissatisfied with the restriction on his personal freedom, Chu filed for a habeas corpus petition, which the Taipei District Court rejected.
Chu was then taken back to the police station for a statement and subsequently transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office.
Around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sun Peng and a lawyer appeared at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office to arrange bail for his son. When asked by the media for a comment, the elder Sun said, “We will comment on another day. Everyone has worked hard, and I apologize for the trouble caused.”
Sun emerged from the prosecutor's office a few minutes later and told reporters to "calm down." He said a few words in Japanese before getting into a car and leaving.
Early on Sunday morning (June 16), Sun and Chu were seen outside a nightclub in Taipei's Xinyi District. Sun interacted with the public and posed for photos, while Chu stood by his side carrying a homemade blowtorch.
