TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei police searched the home of Edward Sun (孫安佐) on Wednesday (June 19) after his associate appeared in public carrying a homemade blowtorch.
At Sun's residence, police confiscated gunpowder and knives, reported TVBS News. Sun, the offspring of celebrity couple Di Ying (狄鶯) and Sun Peng (孫鵬), was then brought back to the police station for questioning.
On Saturday evening (June 15), Sun and his manager surnamed Chu (朱) appeared outside a nightclub in Taipei's Xinyi District. Footage shows Chu standing beside Sun with a propane blowtorch slung over his shoulder.
When questioned by Xinyi Precinct police on Monday (June 17), Chu said Sun had made the blowtorch by hand. Chu estimated the firing range of the gun was less than one meter and denied it was a lethal weapon.

Chu claimed it was nothing more than a “big lighter” and said it could be used for barbecuing when camping. Chu also said Sun planned to mass-produce the blowtorch for fans to order.
According to Chu, Sun intended to hold an event at the end of August, during which he considered bringing the torch on stage to shoot flames during his singing performance. Police transferred Chu's case to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office to be investigated for breaching the Social Order Maintenance Act (社會秩序維護法), per CNA.
On Wednesday morning, the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office directed the Criminal Investigation Division of the Taipei City Police Department to search the residences of Sun and Chu, seizing some evidence in the process.
