TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Interior (MOI) warned against receiving aid from foreign adversaries on Monday (June 17).
The ministry said in a press release that committing such acts may violate the National Security Act and Anti-Infiltration Act. Both laws protect Taiwan from the interference of foreign adversaries.
According to the ministry, the government indicted the Taiwan People’s Communist Party (台灣人民共產黨) for violating the Anti-Infiltration Act. The prosecution accused the party of aiding specific candidates under the guidance of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The press release was issued in response to a recent Facebook post by Taiwanese singer He I-chi (何以奇). She disclosed a letter from the Chinese company Beijing Ci Guang Film, Television and Media Incorporated (北京慈光影視傳媒有限公司), per CNA.
In the letter, the Chinese firm asked He to help create the Taiwan Peace Embracing Party (台灣擁和黨). The letter also mentioned business deals she could get if she helped set up the party.
He would also be required to periodically attend conferences in China. He's letter was similar to one sent to Taiwanese singer Hsieh He-hsien (謝和弦).
