TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A teenager fatally stabbed a 20-year-old soldier surnamed Wang (王) during an altercation at a shrimp fishing restaurant in Pingtung on Saturday night (June 15).
Wang had begun a four-day leave on Thursday (June 13) and was scheduled to return to the base on Sunday evening (June 16), reported ETtoday. On Saturday, he was with elementary school classmates in a KTV room at the establishment.
Knowing that friends were singing in another room, Wang went to say hello. A 17-year-old boy and Wang then got into an argument over a drinking toast.
The boy suddenly drew a knife and slashed Wang's leg, severing his artery, leading to severe bleeding. Paramedics arrived within 10 minutes and rushed Wang to the hospital. However, doctors were unable to save Wang and he was pronounced dead.
Police took the teenager into custody on suspicion of homicide, and a juvenile court has ruled that he should be detained, reported UDN. The police did not disclose any further details as the investigation is ongoing.
