TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) shared holiday greetings on social media, wishing everyone in Taiwan a happy Dragon Boat Festival.
In messages shared online, Lai expressed well-wishes to people celebrating the holiday. Lai also thanked those in the transportation industry who worked over the long weekend to ensure a pleasant break for others.
“May your day be full of good food and warm company,” Lai said on Twitter.
On Sunday (June 9), President Lai met with new residents in Hsinchu to make zongzi and discuss various cultural traditions. Lai met with foreign residents from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and others.
He welcomed all of them to Taiwan as new members of the Taiwan family. As president, Lai said that he hopes to take care of all the different ethnic groups in Taiwanese society so that all can live together in harmony.
In an earlier post, Lai said, “No matter whether you prefer southern or northern style zongzi, I wish you a holiday full of joy and blessings.”
