TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Tourism Administration showcased a rebranded tourism campaign, “Taiwan – Waves of Wonder,” during an event held in Los Angeles on Wednesday (June 5).
The administration is working alongside Taiwan's local governments, travel agencies, and airlines to boost tourism from North America. Seattle and San Francisco are also included in their campaign tour, per CNA.
Tourism Administration Director-General Chou Yung-Hui (周永暉) was in Los Angeles for the promotion. He introduced the idea of "embracing the mountains, embracing the ocean, enjoy cycling around the island.”
Chou outlined Taiwan’s tourism services and introduced its rich cultural heritage. He added that 2024 and 2025 are Taiwan’s round-island cycling years.
Promoting tourism initiatives will enhance the training of tourism professionals and highlight the importance of digitalization, Chou said. This will allow Taiwan a stronger presence in the global tourism landscape.
The Los Angeles event featured interactive sessions, offering a taste of Taiwan's unique offerings. Participants had the opportunity to learn ecological origami with international origami artist Hung Hsin-fu (洪新富), silk fan painting with contemporary textile artist Tseng Yen-hui (曾炎輝), and experience a traditional tea ceremony with the renowned LuYuan Tea (鹿苑茶莊) tea house from Yilan.

Nearly 100 Los Angeles tourism operators attended the event. They showed strong industry interest in partnering with Taiwan.
The administration’s press release pointed to Taiwan's swift tourism recovery following the 2024 Hualien earthquake, which it said demonstrates the resilience of the industry.
