TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Czech parliamentary delegation led by Czech Senate Vice President Jiri Drahos will visit Taiwan on Monday (June 10) to promote Taiwan-Czech chip cooperation.
Drahos said his country hopes to learn from Taiwan, which leads the world in chip production and research and development, CNA reported. He welcomed companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to set up research centers in the Czech Republic.
The Senate vice president will take a direct flight from Prague to Taipei on June 9 for a week-long visit. His delegation consists of 20 people, including Deputy Minister of Technology Jana Havlikova and Czech National Museum Director Michal Lukes.
They will meet with key Cabinet officials and Taiwanese lawmakers, as well as engage in exchanges with Taiwanese universities and Academia Sinica. The group will also hold talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute and National Applied Research Laboratories.
This is Drahos’ fourth visit to Taiwan.
Taiwan and the Czech Republic have partnered to rebuild Ukraine’s primary healthcare capacity amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In December 2022, the two countries signed separate MOUs for educational cooperation and a Business Opportunities Enhancement Program.
