TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) paid a surprise visit to a student restaurant at National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei City Friday (May 31).
Taiwan-born Huang was in the country to attend next week’s Computex Taipei event. As on previous visits, he was spotted at some of the city’s famous night markets and top restaurants.
On Friday, he put in an unexpected appearance at a student restaurant on the NTU campus. He was immediately surrounded by students taking pictures and asking for autographs, per CNA.
NTU President Chen Wen-chang (陳文章) reportedly sent him a black T-shirt bearing the name of the university in golden lettering. Huang immediately held it out in front of him to show the students.
The technology pioneer is scheduled to deliver a speech about the role of AI in the future of manufacturing at the NTU Sports Center Sunday (June 2). The Nvidia co-founder also plans to meet other technology business leaders visiting Taiwan for Computex.
The California-based maker of graphics processor units planned to open its first AI research and development center for Asia in Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said in April.
