TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉) announced on Friday (May 31) its partnership with graphics processor company Nvidia to develop generative AI software for electric vehicles (EVs).
At a shareholders’ meeting in Tucheng District, Liu said the company is focusing on three major platforms, namely “smart manufacturing, smart EVs, and smart cities,” per CNA. Generative AI technology will be integrated into Foxconn’s digital twin factories, he added.
“In the smart EV sector, Foxconn is actively developing HHEV.OS software for EVs and integrating high-performance computing (HPC) technology for the design, testing, and validation of vehicle projects,” the chair said. “For smart cities, Foxconn will expand its smart city operations with the CityGPT platform, focusing on automation and application of robotics as core elements.”
Regarding EV strategy, Liu said a Kaohsiung electric bus factory is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025, with a production capacity of 500 electric buses.
The Model B is projected to start mass production in the first half of 2025, Liu added. Additionally, Model B and Model C are set to be introduced to Southeast Asia, the U.S., and other markets in 2025.
Commenting on next-generation communications tech, Liu said Foxconn will expand its deployment of small and medium-sized satellite platforms and promote ground-based antenna equipment next year.
The EVs will be made through Foxtron, Foxconn's joint venture with Yulon.
