TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Airbus said Tuesday (May 28) that it has signed a letter of intent with Taiwan’s China Airlines to retrofit its A350 cabins with a new layout and amenities.
According to an Airbus press release, under the agreement, Airbus Services will direct the installation of the Taiwanese airlines’ latest Premium Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class seats for its fleet of 15 A350-900s. On March 8, the airline said the retrofit would cost around US$400 million (NT$12.98 billion), according to CNA.
The suite of upgrades will include seating in all classes, in-flight infotainment systems, and cabin environment. When the retrofits start and the timeline for completion will depend on when the airline officially signs a contract with Airbus, per CNA.
“We are honored to be selected by China Airlines to upgrade its A350 fleet. The airline’s existing layout had already been one of the most luxurious in the industry and we are excited to support China Airlines to elevate this to yet another level,” said Cristina Aguilar, customer services senior vice president.
As of April, the Taiwanese airline operates 15 A350-900s, 18 A330-300s, and 12 A321neos.
