TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) on Thursday (May 30) issued new rules for the number of people allowed to join special passengers in priority lanes.
Travelers holding an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC) will no longer be allowed to have one other person accompany them through express lanes at Taoyuan Airport starting June 6, per CNA. Other passengers will also see the number of accompanying travelers affected by the new regulations.
Priority lanes are still open to airline crews, VIPs, travelers with reduced mobility, pregnant women, babies in strollers or under the age of two, children traveling alone, and ABTC holders, TIAC said. However, from June 6, babies in strollers or under the age of two can only have a maximum of two people passing through the priority lanes with them.
Travelers with reduced mobility are defined as those needing wheelchairs or other assistive devices. They are allowed to have one person accompany them, TIAC said.
The company noted the airport already added new channels and improved the design of queuing lines to ensure a quicker flow of passengers through immigration. The number of travelers passing through the airport reached 35.35 million in 2023.
