TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A weather front will bring rain to Taiwan on Monday (May 20) and the upcoming week, according to Central Weather Administration (CWA) meteorologist Chang Chun-yao (張竣堯).
Chang said cloudy skies would give way to showers or thunderstorms on Monday, per UDN. The weather front will intensify on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 21–22), bringing heavy rain, especially to the western half of Taiwan.
Significant rainfall will also affect outlying islands such as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. The weather front will gradually move away on Saturday (May 25).
As for temperature, highs in the western half of Taiwan will reach 30 to 32 C, while cloudiness will lead to cooler temperatures of 27 to 29 C in eastern areas on Sunday (May 19). For the week ahead, most areas will experience cloudiness with highs of 28-30 C and lows of 22-24 C.
Chang reminded the public to be alert for severe weather, such as lightning strikes and strong wind gusts.
